GigaTux actually owns quite a few other companies (in order of importance):

  1. Vixile (November 2010)
  2. Surmounted.NET (October 2011)
  3. GenVPS (October 2011)
  4. The Rock Host and York PA Hosting (October 2011)
  5. Rewindhost (October 2011)
  6. PositiveVPS (November 2010)
  7. VirtUK (early 2010)

When it comes to support, if there are many issues and you need to prioritise them, please prioritise GigaTux first, and then the above in that order (VirtUK doesn't count as they are full GigaTux customers now and we don't get any orders through them).

Vixile

Management of Vixile will shortly be taken over by the original owner, although it will be technically owned by GigaTux. We will continue to look after all existing customers, with the website being directed to the new manager's own billing installation and setup.

This is a relatively small USA, Xen/OpenVZ company offering fully managed VPSs and shared hosting. As it's fully managed, we should try to help with their setup issues where possible. This is marketed as a quality provider, on par with GigaTux, but with managed VPSs as opposed to unmanaged VPSs. Services here, like with GigaTux, are not oversold (even the OpenVZ packages). All users have been migrated to GigaTux's node01001 server in San Jose.

Surmounted.NET

This is a high quality service providing shared, VPS and dedicated hosting.

The following clients have been transferred and should be using the GigaTux servers (except dedicated) and the GigaTux WHMCS:

  • VPS
  • Dedicated servers (based at TailorMadeServers in Dallas, TX)

The following transfers are happening shortly:

  • Reseller hosting
  • Shared hosting

The vast majority of clients are being based on the American services at node01001.gigatux.com and srv2.vixile.net.

GenVPS

This is a low quality OpenVZ service, similar to PositiveVPS (although it doesn't attract the same number of filesharing users, which is a good thing). They have unfortunately had a bad reputation with downtime before being bought by us, but were a bargain. We are transferring them to a special OpenVZ setup inside a domU on node01001.gigatux.com.

The Rock Host and York PA Hosting

This is a relatively small shared hosting only company.

We have transferred across all clients to GigaTux's srv2.vixile.net server, and all clients should be using the main WHMCS.

Rewindhost

This is a relatively low quality shared hosting service, and we will be moving them across to srv2.vixile.net. They offer Master Reseller accounts too using WHMPHP. There are quite a lot of clients on there, we will be prioritising moving clients from other services first.

PositiveVPS

This is a relatively small USA/OpenVZ company (slightly smaller than Vixile), which offers loads and loads of bandwidth (and RAM, and disk space) for a very cheap price. Basically, they oversell, which means they offer more disk and RAM than is actualy available, on the hope that not everyone will try to use it at once. This is the only way this company remains profitable, so we keep on doing this. This makes it very much a low quality provider.

VirtUK

This was a tiny UK/Xen company, bought for a tiny amount near the beginning of 2010. Although the website is still active, we haven't been contacted in reference to VirtUK for many months now. All clients have migrated off onto our own servers.

Both the bililng portal and control panel are the standard GigaTux ones.
