What you need to do is:

# Ensure that the user has performed the steps in the DTC Configuration section of the [http://billing.gigatux.com/knowledgebase/218/Installation-in-DTC.html Installation in DTC] page. Check this by seeing the user's DTC login.
# Log in to the physical node the customer has bought a VPS on.
# Type ''bunzip2 -c /usr/share/dtc-xen-hvm/Windows_Server_2008_Standard_GigaTux_30GB.img.bz2 | dd of=/dev/lvm1/xen'''XX''' bs=1M'' where '''XX''' is the VPS number. There are images also for Windows Server 2008 R2 and Windows Server 2012. These are named in an obvious manner inside /usr/share/dtc-xen-hvm/
# When this is complete, send the pre-defined response ''Technical -> Windows VPS Installed'' to the ticket that the user raised.

Signed PV drivers are available at [http://wiki.univention.de/index.php?title=Installing-signed-GPLPV-drivers Univention]. We haven't tested these yet, but it would be useful for users that require a 64 bit Windows.

Setting up

If the customer has bought a VPS with a Windows license, we need to do a few extra steps:

  1. Log in to the physical node the customer has bought a VPS on.
  2. The user's Xen account might not exist, so type something like useradd --home /var/lib/dtc-xen/ttyssh_home/xenXX -m -s /usr/bin/dtc-xen_userconsole -g xenusers xenXX where XX is the VPS number.
  3. Type ln -s /usr/share/dtc-xen-hvm/Windows_*.iso /var/lib/dtc-xen/ttyssh_home/xenXX/ where XX is the VPS number.

Performing Windows Install for Customer

Each user is entitled to ask us to install Windows for them. We used to copy across a pre-created Windows disk image but this proved to be unreliable. Unfortunately, you will need to go through the same process as the user in order to install Windows on their VPS.

Signed Drivers

Signed PV drivers are available at Univention. We haven't tested these yet, but it would be useful for users that require a 64 bit Windows.
