IPMITool

To use any of these commands, you will need to download IPMITool. Alternately, it may be possible to perform the equivalent of these commands using the IPMI web interface on a server, if present.

There is currently an issue using this on node01001 - when the server is reset, the IPMI interface fails to respond for a few minutes afterwards. Thus, it is impossible to look at or change the BIOS.

Overall server health

 ipmitool -I lanplus -H <IPADDRESS> -U ADMIN -P PASSWORD chassis status

Kick off any serial console users

 ipmitool -I lanplus -H <IPADDRESS> -U ADMIN -P PASSWORD sol deactivate

Display serial console

 ipmitool -I lanplus -H <IPADDRESS> -U ADMIN -P PASSWORD sol activate

Perform power functions, including resetting

ipmitool -I lanplus -H <IPADDRESS> -U ADMIN -P PASSWORD power [status | on | off | cycle (1 second power off interval) | reset (hard reset) | soft (overheat signal sent via ACPI)]

Get all sensor readings

 ipmitool -I lanplus -H <IPADDRESS> -U ADMIN -P PASSWORD sensor list

(N.B. for the CPU temperature, 0x0000=low, 0x0100=medium, 0x0200=high, 0x400=overheat, 0x0700=uninstall):

Do things to the IMPI controller itself

 ipmitool -I lanplus -H <IPADDRESS> -U ADMIN -P PASSWORD bmc [ info | reset warm | reset cold ]
