OS images are stored on both node00001.gigatux.com and node01001.gigatux.com. They are mounted via NFS on each other physical server.

Sometimes, the NFS connection can go down. Unfortunately, NFS is a kernel-level server so sometimes this means that it's really difficult to get it running again.

As a backup, we can use SSHFS which is basically a filesystem mounted using SSH. This is pretty reliable. To get this working, the old NFS mounts need to be unmounted and SSHFS needs to be set up. The following commands achieve this:

  • umount -l /usr/share/dtc-xen-os
  • umount -l /usr/share/dtc-xen-app
  • umount -l /usr/share/dtc-xen-hvm
  • sshfs [email protected]:/usr/share/dtc-xen-os/ /usr/share/dtc-xen-os/
  • sshfs [email protected]:/usr/share/dtc-xen-app/ /usr/share/dtc-xen-app/
  • sshfs [email protected]:/usr/share/dtc-xen-hvm/ /usr/share/dtc-xen-hvm/
