Resetting the server yourself

If you can get no suitable response from other VPSs and you know Marc is not available (or you have had no response from Marc within 30 minutes), please do not be afraid to reset the server. Minimising downtime is important, so make a suitable call as to whether the server needs to be reset.

Check whether the Server in question uses IPMI or not, and then follow one of the following guides.

• Non-IPMI (node00001, node00002, node00004) nodes are not responding as expected
• IPMI commands

After you have issued the reset commands/request, keep checking on this. If you used IPMI, the server should come up within 10 minutes, so continuously attempt to ping the server.

Remember to send out an email detailing the outage once the server is back up.
