Testing the VPS

  1. Start the user's VPS by going to the user's Client interface, selecting the VPS in the new tabs and then selecting Installation.
  2. Click Boot up to try and start the VPS

  1. Hopefully the VPS will start booting at this stage. This can be checked by typing xm list in the dom0 console and ensuring that the VPS is listed with a state of r or b.
  2. If the VPS does not boot up, type xm create -c /etc/xen/xenXY to start the VPS. See what errors appear. If you get an error stating that a directory is mounted in the privileged domain, type umount to unmount it from the dom0 and retry. Press Ctrl-] to exit from the Xen console.
  3. When you get to a root prompt, log in as root with the root password.
  4. Try the following tests:
ping www.demon.net to test network connectivity and DNS
touch a to ensure the file system is read/write
rm a to remove the test file

Confirming the VPS

  1. Send an email to the user based on the GigaTux - VPS Setup template in the webmail. Ensure that the Planned Outages and Known Issues are up to date.
  2. Update the Customers page on this wiki with the new customer's details.
