Testing the VPS
- Start the user's VPS by going to the user's Client interface, selecting the VPS in the new tabs and then selecting Installation.
- Click Boot up to try and start the VPS
- Hopefully the VPS will start booting at this stage. This can be checked by typing xm list in the dom0 console and ensuring that the VPS is listed with a state of r or b.
- If the VPS does not boot up, type xm create -c /etc/xen/xenXY to start the VPS. See what errors appear. If you get an error stating that a directory is mounted in the privileged domain, type umount to unmount it from the dom0 and retry. Press Ctrl-] to exit from the Xen console.
- When you get to a root prompt, log in as root with the root password.
- Try the following tests:
- ping www.demon.net to test network connectivity and DNS
- touch a to ensure the file system is read/write
- rm a to remove the test file
Confirming the VPS
- Send an email to the user based on the GigaTux - VPS Setup template in the webmail. Ensure that the Planned Outages and Known Issues are up to date.
